Peggy Fletcher
has been writing professionally since 1970 when she worked as an
editor- journalist for the Sarnia Observer. At the same time she
continued her professional career in Creative Writing with short
stories written and broadcast on the CBC Short Story program, as
well as having short stories appear in Chatelaine and Woman (England).
Her poetry and plays were published and read in Sarnia, London,
Edmonton, Ottawa and other venues. In 1977, she began teaching Creative
Writing and English at Lambton College, Sarnia. Since that time
she has worked as a freelance writer and poet and her work has appeared
in national and international journals.
Peggy is an amateur artist and photographer as well as a writer.
Her paintings, photos and drawings have appeared at local galleries
and in London, as well as through illustrations in books.

Born and raised
in St. Johns, Newfoundland, she grew up in the tradition of story
telling and verse writing. As a child she attended Holloway School,
and received a book prize. After moving to Canada in the 1940's,
she continued her education in Sudbury, Parry Sound and finally
in Sarnia where she currently resides. In 1981, she received an
Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario.
In the 1970's and 80's she edited the literary magazine Mamashee.
She was poetry editor for the Canadian Author and Bookman for several
years, and she has worked as a freelance editor for many writers.
She has also acted as a judge in many writing contests.
Peggy is married to fellow writer John Drage, a wonderful humourist,
and is a proud mother of five grown daughters and many grandchildren.
She and her husband run a small press and they published an informal
Sarnia-Lambton writers' history book called Ode To A Flattened Toad

Memberships:
Peggy is an active member of Writers In Transition in Sarnia,
Ontario where she tries to encourage creative writing for all ages.
Past leader of a Spoken Word series, she also values performance
art. As a professional writer and poet, she belongs to The Writers'
Union of Canada, The Canadian Poetry Association, The
Ontario Poetry Society, and she is an associate member of the
Canadian League of Poets. |

Poetry, Alberta Poetry, Canadian Poetry, and many
others.
Non-fiction work and columns appeared in the Sarnia Observer
and the London Free Press.
She has won many writing awards including a 1st. Place drama award,
C.A.A, London, 3rd place drama, Ottawa Play writing Competition,
National One Act Play competition, and many poetry awards throughout
the years.
Honourable Mention
award in the 2009 Lah Dee Dah Dee Dah Poetry Contest.
