Peggy Fletcher has been writing professionally since 1970 when she worked as an editor- journalist for the Sarnia Observer. At the same time she continued her professional career in Creative Writing with short stories written and broadcast on the CBC Short Story program, as well as having short stories appear in Chatelaine and Woman (England). Her poetry and plays were published and read in Sarnia, London, Edmonton, Ottawa and other venues. In 1977, she began teaching Creative Writing and English at Lambton College, Sarnia. Since that time she has worked as a freelance writer and poet and her work has appeared in national and international journals.

Born and raised in St. Johns, Newfoundland, she grew up in the tradition of story telling and verse writing. As a child she attended Holloway School, and received a book prize. After moving to Canada in the 1940's, she continued her education in Sudbury, Parry Sound and finally in Sarnia where she currently resides. In 1981, she received an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario. In the 1970's and 80's she edited the literary magazine Mamashee. She was poetry editor for the Canadian Author and Bookman for several years, and she has worked as a freelance editor for many writers. She has also acted as a judge in many writing contests.
