The Ontario Poetry Society Presents:
The Members' Only Postage Stamp Contest
First Prize - One Year Free Membership
4 Honourable Mention Awards
All winners receive a fancy certificate
plus all 5 winning poems will be featured
in a centerfold spreadsheet
inside the January, 2023 issue of Verse Afire.
All paid members of the Ontario Poetry Society are invited to enter
up to ten poems on crafts. Poems may be about aircraft, witchcraft,
crafting (creating) poetry, watercraft, such as a canoe or an
ocean liner, arts and crafts, using either glue or pastels or
watercolours or oil paint, or mixed media, poems about stitchery
including knitting, needlepoint, crocheting, making doilies, and quilting,
sewing to craft pillow covers or wall hangings, or clothing,
macramé hangers, candle making, soap making, glass blowing,
woodcraft, stained glass or anything handmade.
Deadline: July 31, 2022
Poems to be no longer than 36 lines. The stanza spaces count as lines. No excessive wide
lines, as I would need to break the line and move some of the words down on a new line and if
the poem is presently 36 lines, breaking the line would make the poem ineligible to win a prize.
No lewdness, no foul language and no heavy slant on religion. Poems to be unpublished.
Entry fee: 3 regular $1 postage stamps to enter from 1 to 10 poems
on the specific themes listed.
No s.a.s.e. required
All who enter will get a free chapbook of poems as well as the winners list.
Keep the stamps on their backing so they may be used to send out the chapbooks.
Contest Judge is Fran Figge, President
